I love how much social media has enhanced our ability to share things with each other. Links to news, videos, websites, blogs, songs, support groups, petitions, pictures, and all things YouTube provide me with more information than I know what to do with. There are funny things to be enjoyed, support to be lent, and facts to validate. Unfortunately there is a lot of mindless drivel too. And I don't know why we seem to like that the most. I'm sure I've shared or liked my fair share of it. But I also want to be able to share things that are of value, because that's part of the awesomeness of social media. There was a group I was invited to on Facebook that wanted us to share a testimony of truth all on the same day. I didn't, mostly because I have a thing with Facebook groups. But I want to encourage anyone who reads this to share something that is of personal significance in your life, rather than forwarding somebody else's latest meme.
To make a break in the almost endless triviality being shared on the internet, I want to take a little minute and use my tiny corner to share something that is incredibly significant to me, and something that I know with all my heart is of worth to all of God's children.

I have recently started to read the Book of Mormon from start to finish again. It is a record of the descendants of a prophet's family warned by God to leave Jerusalem in order to escape its destruction. By the hand of the Lord they were brought to the Americas. Prophets called of God to these people taught of the coming of the Messiah and recorded the account of the Resurrected Saviors' visit to them. The events of this book span from 600 years before Christ's birth until 400 years after His resurrection. It was written by prophets of God at much the same time as the Bible, just on a different continent. The Book of Mormon, like the Bible, testifies of the Divinity of Jesus Christ and declares Him Savior of mankind. It teaches the things of God, and rejects the wickedness of the world. It has strengthened my knowledge of and relationship with Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon, like the truths testified of in the Bible, has changed my life for the better. That which turns us to God, must therefore be of God.
I have studied this book multiple times and have prayed to know of its truthfulness, as I have also done with the Bible. I know the Bible is the word of God. What a blessing it is to have so many accounts of the Savior's mortal ministry and the teachings of so many prophets! But it stands to reason that a finite book cannot (and would not) be the only word of an infinite God with eternal truths and numberless children. (This is why there is a Prophet called of God on the earth today who continues to reveal God's will, as was done for thousands of years before Christ. I have heard him speak. God has always called prophets, and this continues even today.) I read the Bible and I see a book that could not have been written or survived the tides of time without the hand of God. I read the Book of Mormon and I see the same. I know the Book of Mormon is true because all truth-all goodness- comes from God. And I cannot deny the goodness that has come into my life because of the truths testified of in this book. I know it is the word of God.
Although it takes study, time, perseverance and real desire, those who read the Book of Mormon and pray with a sincerity to know whether it is true or false will receive an answer from Him who knows all things. Heavenly Father does not withhold wisdom from those who diligently seek it.
You can even request for a free book at the link below. You could not know the Bible was the word of God unless you had read it. Neither can you know about the Book of Mormon until you read it. It has the power to change your life!
