Last week I finished reading the Book of Mormon again. I love this book of scripture. The Book of Mormon, like the Bible, testifies of the Divinity of Jesus Christ and declares Him Savior of mankind. It teaches the things of God, and rejects the wickedness of the world. It was written by prophets called of God for that purpose. It has strengthened my knowledge of and relationship with Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon, like the truths testified of in the Bible, has changed my life for the better. That which turns us to God, is of God. And this book points all of mankind to God and His son Jesus Christ.
I have studied this book multiple times and have prayed to know of its truthfulness, as I have also done with the Bible. The Bible is the word of God. What a blessing it is to have so many accounts of the Savior's mortal ministry and the teachings of so many prophets! But it stands to reason that a finite book cannot (and would not) be the only word of an infinite God with eternal truths and numberless children. God continues to speak to His children. There is still more truth that He has yet to give. And in the Book of Mormon he has already given us more of that truth, more prophetic record. I read the Bible and I see a book that could not have been written or survived the tides of time without the hand of God. I read the Book of Mormon and I see the same. I know the Book of Mormon is true because all truth-all goodness-comes from God. And I cannot deny the goodness that has come into my life because of the truths testified of in this book. It is the word of God.
It is a record of the descendants of a prophet's family warned by God to leave Jerusalem in order to escape its destruction. By the hand of the Lord they were brought to the Americas. Prophets called of God to these people taught of the coming of the Messiah and recorded the account of the Resurrected Saviors' visit to them. The events of this book span from 600 years before Christ's birth until 400 years after His resurrection. It was written by prophets of God at much the same time as the Bible, but on a different continent. Mormon was the prophet who compiled and abridged all the accounts of the prophets into this one record. His son Moroni buried the record, and thousands of years later, God instructed Joseph Smith to the exact place they were. He was lead to find, translate, and publish this book.
Although it takes study, time, perseverance and real desire, those who read the Book of Mormon and pray with a sincerity to know whether it is true or false will receive an answer from Him who knows all things. Heavenly Father does not, and cannot, withhold wisdom from those who diligently seek it.
You can even request for a free book at the link below. You could not know the Bible was the word of God unless you had read it. Neither can you know about the Book of Mormon until you read it. It has the power to change lives.
